Silence

I am walking on the road,

When I suddenly feel it.

It is unexpected and surprising

Yet, like a blanket of tranquility.

Walking along, I am aware

Of what it feels like to be peaceful

My steps slow down, my breathing relaxes,

And a sigh escapes my lips.

I can see the cars moving

I can feel the wind’s caress

I can smell the city’s aroma

But all that is usually there

It is what I hear

That makes this moment special

It is what I don’t hear

That makes this moment special

I am walking in the midst of people

Rushing and speeding with their lives

In this fast paced city, country

When, at last, I hear it,

Silence.
